Relive RC racing history with the Yokomo YZ-10 Classic Kit — a meticulously recreated tribute to one of the most iconic 1/10 scale racing chassis ever designed. The Americanised sibling to the Yokomo Super Dog Fighter 870C, this limited-edition kit brings the golden era of competitive RC racing back to your workbench, combining vintage aesthetics with the precision engineering that made the original YZ-10 a championship-winning platform.

Why Collectors and Racers Love the YZ-10

  • Authentic vintage design — faithful reproduction of the legendary competition chassis that dominated tracks in its era
  • Premium build quality — precision-molded components and high-grade materials throughout
  • Limited availability — numbered production run makes this a genuine collector's piece
  • Complete kit experience — everything you need for a rewarding build session
  • Display or race ready — build it as a shelf queen or take it to the track

Note: This is an unassembled kit requiring intermediate to advanced building skills. Electronics, motor, ESC, radio system, battery, and paint are required to complete (sold separately).

Painting Guide – Classic Box Art Colour Scheme

The YZ-10 features a clear Polycarbonate (Lexan) buggy body and undertray. Because PS paints are translucent, colours must be sprayed on the inside of the shell in reverse order — finest details and darkest colours first, main body colour last, then backed with white.

⚠️ Important: Do not use TS or XF paints on the polycarbonate body — they are not formulated for Lexan and will crack or peel.

Main Body & Wing

  • PS-1 White – Primary body colour for the main shell and rear wing. Also used as the mandatory backing coat over all accent colours — back the entire inner shell with white last to make all colours fully opaque and vibrant.

Geometric Stripes & Accent Sections

  • PS-4 Blue – Sharp retro blue graphics framing the cockpit sides and nose block
  • PS-30 Brilliant Blue – Alternative/brighter blue option for the cockpit and nose graphics
  • PS-2 Red – Thin separating pinstripes and secondary chevron accents between the blue and white sections
  • PS-6 Yellow – Bright yellow lightning bolts and number backers on team box art variants

Undertray

  • PS-1 White – Box art standard is to spray the polycarbonate undertray solid white for a clean look. Alternatively, leave it clear to show off the chassis underneath — builder's choice.

Pro Masking Tip

The YZ-10 box art relies on incredibly sharp, straight geometric lines. The shell's deep channels and roof duct can cause standard masking tape to lift at corners, leading to paint bleed. Use a flexible tape for curves to seal stripe borders first, then fill large areas with standard masking tape.

Curve tape (for stripe borders):

Standard tape (for filling large masked areas):
