C58-239 was restored from static preservation to operate the SL train on the Kamaishi Line as part of the reconstruction work following the Great East Japan Earthquake, and is used on the "SL Ginga" between Hanamaki and Kamaishi. The SL Ginga is scheduled to cease operation in the spring of 2023 due to the aging of the passenger cars it uses.

- Newly produced to recreate the original appearance at the time of its revival in 2014, with no decorations on the water heater or running board
- The main body's headlights are equipped with small LP405 type main and auxiliary lights, while the coal car's headlights are reproduced as being equipped with large LP403 type headlights
- Number plate comes as a separate part "C58-239 (black background)"
- Headmark "SL Ginga" included
- A motor with flywheel is installed inside the boiler section
- Headlights are equipped with a constant-light circuit board
- Main body and coal car headlights are illuminated (auxiliary lights do not light up)
- Spoke wheels are used for the leading wheels
- Cab light window can be opened and closed
- Handrails are made of metal wire and are installed at the factory
- Release lever is reproduced as a separate part (both front and rear)
- The coal car's signal light is one piece, and the lens is attached as a separate part
- Front coupler for multiple-unit operation is included

When replacing the headmark base, please be careful not to damage the deflector section.
