The iconic Tamiya Hornet is back in this special 2004 edition assembly kit. Painting Guide
The Hornet body is Polycarbonate (Lexan) with the classic yellow and black livery applied via the included period-correct decal sheet. Use Tamiya PS (Polycarbonate) spray paints for touch-ups or custom repaints, applied from the inside of the body shell.
⚠️ Important: Do not use TS or XF paints on the polycarbonate body — they are not formulated for Lexan and will crack or peel.
Touch-Up / Box Art Colours
- PS-6 Yellow – Primary body colour — the Hornet's signature bright yellow
- PS-5 Black – Cockpit, side pods, and detail areas
- PS-12 Silver – Metallic accents and detail highlights
Custom Colour Options
- PS-2 Red – Bold alternative to the yellow for a custom look
- PS-1 White – Useful backing coat to make yellow and lighter colours pop when applied from the inside
Masking Tape
For clean custom paint work on the Lexan body, use flexible curve tape to seal edges before filling larger areas with standard tape.
