The Tamiya Super Sabre returns in this 2023 updated edition of the classic 1987 original (Item 58066). A brother model to the Boomerang — differing in body and damper stay shapes — the Super Sabre brings 4WD off-road performance and vintage styling together in one satisfying build. This version features a pre-cut and pre-painted silver polycarbonate body, ready for your custom detailing.

Painting Guide
The Super Sabre (2023) body is pre-cut and pre-painted in silver Polycarbonate (Lexan). The classic red and blue accent graphics are applied via the included sticker sheet — no red or blue paint is required for the box art look.
Use Tamiya PS (Polycarbonate) spray paints for touch-ups or full custom repaints, applied from the inside of the body shell.
⚠️ Important: Do not use TS or XF paints on the polycarbonate body — they are not formulated for Lexan and will crack or peel.
Touch-Up / Box Art Colour
- PS-12 Silver – Matches the factory pre-painted silver body for seamless touch-ups
- PS-5 Black – Cockpit interior and detail areas
Custom Colour Options
- PS-1 White – Popular base for a full custom repaint — back all colours with white to make them vibrant and opaque
- PS-2 Red – Paint the accent areas instead of using stickers for a seamless finish
- PS-4 Blue – Paint the blue stripe areas instead of using stickers for a seamless finish
- PS-19 Camel Yellow – Warm alternative base colour for a retro custom scheme
Masking Tape
For clean custom paint work on the Lexan body, use flexible curve tape to seal edges before filling larger areas with standard tape.
