Tamiya 1/35 M1 Super Sherman Israeli Tank (35322)
This 1/35 scale model assembly kit recreates the Israeli Tank M1 Super Sherman. Following Israel's declaration of independence in 1948, the newly formed Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) selected the M4 Sherman as their first mainstay tank. By the mid-1950s, the IDF had acquired a large number of M4A1 Shermans fitted with the powerful 76.2mm M1 gun to counter the T-34-85 tanks fielded by neighboring Arab armies. These upgraded vehicles were designated M1 Super Shermans to distinguish them from earlier 75mm-armed variants. Featuring curved cast hulls, air-cooled radial gasoline engines, and Vertical Volute Spring Suspension (VVSS), the M1 Super Sherman proved both robust and reliable. It first saw combat during the Suez Crisis in October 1956 and continued to serve with the IDF well into the 1970s.
Key Features
- Accurately captures the tank's distinctive form, including the curved cast hull and 76mm main gun, based on a detailed study of a full-size museum exhibit.
- Represents a late-type variant featuring the muzzle brake and one-piece loader's hatch.
- Highly detailed VVSS suspension and T54E1 tracks enhance realism.
- Includes commander and loader figures, plus three marking options for versatile display.
