Recommended Acrylic Paints

This late-war 8th Air Force kit relies primarily on natural metal finishes. AS Series spray cans are available for in-store pickup only — we cannot ship aerosols.

Airframe Metallic Finish & Identification Markings

• AS-12 Bare-Metal Silver or XF-16 Flat Aluminium: Primary exterior coat representing the raw aluminium airframe panels and wings. AS spray pickup only; XF-16 acrylic not currently stocked.
• XF-1 Flat Black & XF-2 Flat White: High-contrast Allied invasion stripes on the rear fuselage and wing surfaces.
• XF-3 Flat Yellow & XF-7 Flat Red: High-visibility squadron identification markings — checkerboards and coloured nose cowlings of 8th AF units.
• XF-62 Olive Drab: Anti-glare panel along the top of the engine cowl in front of the cockpit windscreen.

Cockpit Interior & Landing Gear Bays

• XF-4 Yellow Green (or mixed with XF-5 Flat Green): Zinc Chromate / Interior Green for the inner structural landing gear bays and interior faces of the gear doors.
• XF-10 Flat Brown: Traditional wooden floorboards lining the cockpit tub.
• X-18 Semi-Gloss Black: Dashboard instrument panel face, flight stick controls, and side electronics boxes.
• XF-49 Khaki: Pilot's fabric canvas seat cushion and harness webbing backrest.

Mechanical Components & Armaments

• X-10 Gun Metal: Six wing-mounted .50 calibre Browning machine gun barrels and shell ejection ports.
• XF-56 Metallic Grey: Engine exhaust shroud manifolds, structural actuator pistons, and internal radiator grill ducts.
• X-11 Chrome Silver: Main landing gear oleo struts and inner wheel hub rims.
• XF-85 Rubber Black: Heavy landing gear tyres.

Clear Colours & Trim
