Tamiya 1/48 King Tiger Production 32536
The Tamiya German King Tiger Prod Turret model kit, with a scale of 1/48 and part number 32536, is a realistic replication of the production type tank that was feared by Allied troops in late World War II. This tank featured 180mm thick armor and a powerful 88mm gun, which was capable of penetrating 170mm thick armor at a distance of 1,000m. The King Tiger had a Henschel turret, which is accurately depicted in this model kit. The German King Tiger was developed in response to the increasing threat of Russian tanks during WWII. The first 50 models had a Porsche designed turret, but the Henschel design turret was adopted for mass production. The tank's thick armor on the front and sides, combined with its main gun and auxiliary armament, made it a formidable weapon on the battlefield. The model kit comes with separate crew hatches that can open and close, a die-cast lower hull for added weight and realism, and assembly type tracks with straight parts made of single pieces. There are also three sets of markings included. The King Tiger is an excellent centerpiece for a diorama of late WWII battles, such as the Ardennes front.
