The F4F Wildcat is one of the most successful carrier aircraft designs of WWII. The FM-1 variant was manufactured by General Motors' Eastern Aircraft Division from August 1942, with armament reduced to four wing-mounted machine guns. It also served with the British Royal Navy as the Martlet Mk.V, deployed on escort carriers to protect vital convoys. Tamiya's 1/48 kit lets you build either variant with exceptional surface detail and a manageable parts count.

This kit can be built as either the US Navy FM-1 or the Royal Navy Martlet Mk.V. Your exterior paint choice depends on the variant you select. AS Series spray cans are available for in-store pickup only — we cannot ship aerosols.

Exterior Scheme A: US Navy FM-1 (Atlantic/Pacific Colours)

• AS-8 Navy Blue or XF-17 Sea Blue: Primary dark upper wings and upper fuselage surfaces. AS spray pickup only.
• AS-19 Intermediate Blue or XF-18 Medium Blue: Mid-tone upper fuselage flanks and trailing edge gradients. AS spray pickup only.
• XF-2 Flat White: Flat underbelly, lower wing surfaces, and high-contrast Allied invasion bands.

Exterior Scheme B: Royal Navy Martlet Mk.V (FAA Camouflage)

• XF-24 Dark Grey: Replicates Royal Navy Dark Slate Grey upper surfaces.
• XF-54 Dark Sea Grey: Extra Dark Sea Grey components of the British top-side disruptive camouflage.
