Tamiya 1/35 M60A3 105mm Gun Tank – Plastic Model Kit (35140)
Build one of the most iconic Cold War-era main battle tanks in 1/35 scale. The M60A3 formed the backbone of U.S. armoured forces through the 1980s alongside the M1 Abrams, featuring a cast iron chassis derived from the M48, a supercharged air-cooled diesel engine, and a 105mm gun with thermal sleeve. Advanced for its time, the M60A3 was equipped with a laser rangefinder and ballistic computer — making it a formidable fighting machine. Over 3,600 units were produced from 1978, serving in frontline roles for more than 20 years.

Recommended Acrylic Paints
The following Tamiya acrylic paints are recommended for this kit based on the included paint guide.
Main Hull & Camouflage Colours
The primary exterior finish depends on whether you paint the vehicle in the standard solid Olive Drab scheme or the multi-colour MERDC/NATO camouflage patterns indicated in the paint guide:
- XF-62 Olive Drab: The definitive base colour for historical U.S. Army armor.
- XF-1 Flat Black: Used for the rubber track pads, road wheel tyres, and dark camouflage bands.
- XF-2 Flat White: Used for mixing lighter camouflage variations or highlighting technical details.
- XF-57 Buff: Frequently specified in Tamiya's guides for desert camo variants, fabric gear, or dusty highlights.
- XF-49 Khaki: Used for the main gun's fabric canvas mantlet cover and dust shrouds.
Detail & Weapon Colours
For the stowage, tools, and mounted weaponry (such as the M2 .50 calibre and M60 machine guns):
- X-10 Gun Metal: For the metallic surfaces of machine guns and tank tools.
- XF-56 Metallic Grey: Excellent for cables, track links, and bare steel wear points.
- XF-64 Red Brown: For wooden tool handles and specific stowage gear.
- XF-10 Flat Brown: An alternative deep brown for straps and vehicle weathering.
Crew Figure Colours (Commander)
To paint the included tank commander figure to period-correct standards:
- XF-15 Flat Flesh: For hands and face details.
- XF-65 Field Grey or XF-51 Khaki Drab: For the standard U.S. military Nomex crew uniform/flight suit.
- XF-49 Khaki: Used for equipment pouches and web gear.
