Kyosho Optima Mid 30622 1/10 4WD Electric Racing Buggy Kit
Kyosho Optima Mid 30622 1/10 4WD Electric Racing Buggy Kit
Recreate a milestone in off-road RC racing with the Kyosho Optima Mid, the tenth model in the Kyosho Vintage Series. Its prototype made an impressive debut at the 1987 World Electric Off-Road Car Championships in England, taking five of the ten A-Main qualifying positions and finishing second. This kit recreates the original midship-motor layout and body styling, with updates for modern electronics and power systems. Assembly and separately purchased running equipment are required.

Technical Details and Original Photos

The basic layout follows the 1987 Optima Mid, with a midship motor mount and centrally positioned heavy components.

The aluminium alloy chassis combines rigidity and crash resistance. Countersunk hex screws create a flat underside.

FRP front and rear shock stays replace the original aluminium design, following the Turbo Optima Mid specification.

Gold-anodised oil shocks recall the pressure shocks of the era. Dial adjustment makes ride-height tuning straightforward.

Front suspension arms incorporate stabiliser-end mounting holes and updated material for increased strength and driving stability.

The adjustable belt tensioner enables drive-belt tuning to improve efficiency and reduce power loss.

A moulded resin belt cover replaces the earlier vacuum-formed part, simplifying assembly and improving protection against dirt and dust.

The 48-pitch spur gear incorporates a slipper clutch to protect the drivetrain against sudden loads while driving.

Decals recreate the design on the original packaging. The included masking sheet supports a simple single-colour body finish.
