Kyosho Javelin 30618 1/10 4WD Electric Racing Buggy Kit
The Kyosho Javelin returns as the sixth model in the Kyosho Vintage Series, recreating the distinctive pipe-frame styling of the original 1986 electric off-road competition buggy. Its resin roll cage recalls the aluminium pipe-frame design of the 1/8 Land Jump, while the narrow backbone chassis, double-wishbone suspension and updated drivetrain accommodate modern power systems. Both chain-drive and belt-drive 4WD systems are included, giving you a choice of drivetrain when building the kit. Radio equipment, motor, ESC and battery are required separately.
Key Features
- Nylon pipe-frame roll cage with an aluminium roof plate secured by screws, plus a heavy-duty aluminium inner roll bar.
- Narrow aluminium backbone chassis with suspension geometry designed for wide steering angles.
- Choice of sealed-compartment chain-drive 4WD or belt-drive 4WD, both included as standard.
- 48-pitch drivetrain with nylon and sintered-alloy gearing to reduce drive loss and noise.
- Metallic counter gear with slipper function, metal final gear case and an adjustable slipper clutch to protect against sudden loads.
- 6061-T6 aluminium chassis, shock stays and plates, with countersunk screws for a flush finish and reduced nut count.
- Long-stroke nylon double-wishbone suspension with aluminium oil shocks and stainless-steel shafts.
- Rear toe adjustment of 0°, 1° or 2° using interchangeable hub-carrier bushings.
- Aluminium hexagonal wheel hubs secured with set screws.

- Reinforced nylon wing and separate chassis-mounted wing stay, with insert-nut pedestals and body clips for secure mounting and maintenance.
- Original-style one-piece chrome dish wheels with revised tyre compound and increased pin count.
- Hex-head fasteners for straightforward assembly.

Technical Details and Original Pictures

The nylon pipe frame and aluminium roof form the roll-cage structure. A large bumper follows the original design, while the included mini bumper provides a racing alternative.

The large reinforced-nylon wing mounts on a separate chassis-mounted stay rather than directly on the roll cage. Body clips simplify maintenance. Its mounting position matches the Scorpion series, allowing the smaller Scorpion wing to be installed. The wing stay can also be used with the Optima with trimming of the polycarbonate body.

Both drivetrain options are supplied. The original 1986 Javelin used chain drive with belt drive offered separately; this Vintage Series kit includes both.

The adjustable slipper clutch helps protect the drivetrain from sudden loads such as jump landings and can be tuned for different surfaces.

6061-T6 aluminium is used for the main chassis, shock stays and plates. Countersunk flat-head and tapping screws provide a flush finish and reduce the number of nuts required.

The oil shocks retain the original appearance while adding stainless-steel front and rear shafts and aluminium cylinders enlarged from 10mm to 12mm outside diameter.

Shock-resistant nylon double-wishbone suspension combines long travel with the updated oil shocks for durability and running stability.

Replaceable rear hub-carrier bushings provide 0°, 1° and 2° toe settings. Aluminium hexagonal wheel hubs use set-screw fastening.

Revised tyre compound and increased pin count update the original tyre design. Lightweight one-piece chrome dish wheels retain the classic styling.
