The Optima Mid gained fame with its spectacular debut at the 2nd World Electric Off-Road Car Championships in England in 1987. The prototype claimed 5 out of the top 10 spots in the A-Main final and secured a remarkable second place finish. The Optima's midship motor position and undercarriage layout revolutionized the world of racing buggies, serving as the blueprint for modern designs. Now, the Optima Mid, a pivotal figure in this evolution, is set to reappear as the 10th entry in the Kyosho vintage series.

The main chassis, crafted from 6016T6 aluminum alloy, ensures exceptional rigidity. Every component of the car has been updated to accommodate modern power systems, including the adoption of a 48-pitch gear for enhanced efficiency and precise gear ratio settings. Additionally, the recreated Optima Mid introduces adjustable belt tension through a tensioner that was not available at the time, resulting in a smooth drive with minimal power loss. Furthermore, features from the Turbo Optima Mid, such as the FRP front and rear shock stays and the countersunk main chassis, have been seamlessly integrated into this model.
