This vehicle was one of the most powerful battle tanks in service during World War II. The King Tiger was armed with a formidable 88mm cannon, which enabled the tank to engage any allied tank even at long range. Because of its heavy armor, complex suspension systems and a complicated, maintenance-prone engine, the tank was not very reliable.

This kit uses rigid styrene plastic — paint with Tamiya Acrylic Mini (XF series) for brush painting. The King Tiger was typically finished in the late-war German three-tone ambush scheme of Dark Yellow, Red Brown, and Olive Green.
Hull, Turret & Schürzen
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-60 Dark Yellow — base coat for the entire tank (Dunkelgelb, standard late-war German colour)
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-64 Red Brown — ambush camouflage stripes over the Dark Yellow base
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-58 Olive Green — third camouflage colour for the three-tone ambush scheme
Running Gear, Tracks & Details
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-1 Flat Black — muzzle brake, exhaust, and deep shadow areas
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-52 Flat Earth — mud and earth weathering on tracks, lower hull, and road wheels
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-57 Buff — dry-brush highlight over the hull for a dusty, sun-faded finish
Tip: Apply the Dark Yellow base first, then use a fine brush to add the Red Brown and Olive Green camouflage stripes. Finish with a thin wash of Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (Dark Brown) to bring out the engraved panel lines and zimmerit texture detail.
