Italeri 02815 1/48 Scale Macchi MC.200 Saetta
Designed by the celebrated engineer Mario Castoldi, the Macchi MC.200 represented a significant evolution in Italian fighter aircraft design. Compared to the biplanes Fiat CR.32 and CR.42 that formed the backbone of Italian fighter squadrons at the start of WWII, the MC.200 distinguished itself with its monoplane configuration and all-metal airframe. The 14-cylinder Fiat A.74 RC.38 radial engine produced 840hp, allowing the Saetta to reach speeds of 500 km/h. Deployed by the Regia Aeronautica across all major fronts — Africa, the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and Russia — the MC.200 was a versatile and capable fighter of its era.
