The HPI Mini-King Flux is far more than a Venture 18 fitted with a monster truck shell — it has evolved into an entirely new machine built to capture the huge personality of the full-size Big Kahuna Monster Truck in a compact 1:18 scale. Fully Licensed Big Kahuna Bodyshell & Authentic Graphics
The Big Kahuna name has serious pedigree. Driven by Shane England out of Powderly, Texas — with support from RTR Vehicles and Vaughn Gittin Jr. Motorsports — Big Kahuna made its debut in 2013 and has become a fan-favourite for its daring stunts, bold graphics, and surf-culture flair.
The Ford Bronco 4400-inspired bodyshell is fully licensed, screenprinted, and hand-finished with cutout windows sitting atop a hard-plastic internal roll cage. Every curve, graphic, and detail reflects the real truck's aesthetic — from the surfboard silhouette to the rugged roll cage and standout "BIG KAHUNA" branding. Crafted from high-strength polycarbonate for scale authenticity and durability.
Lighting & Interior Protection
Working grille LEDs come pre-installed, and the roof-mounted light bar location is LED-ready for easy upgrades — simply install the optional Light Bar Set with no modifications required. For advanced lighting modes and control, the optional RL-700 Light Control Unit can be added. Whether you're bashing at dusk or lighting up nighttime runs, the Mini-King is ready to shine just like the real Big Kahuna.
Wheels, Tyres & Adjustable Track Width
Scale-accurate 1.2" MT-1 deep dish wheels give the Mini-King its unmistakable monster truck stance, wrapped in Tredz TRZ 72×50 monster truck tyres with foam inserts for reliable grip on dirt, carpet, and loose surfaces. Two removable 7mm hex adaptors let you choose between the standard stance for precise handling or the wider +5.5mm offset for increased stability at speed. Aluminium 7mm drive hexes ensure a secure, durable connection to the axle.
Suspension: Dual Shocks & Anti-Roll Bars
Each corner of the Mini-King features dual oil-filled shocks, spreading damping load across two dampers per arm for plush, controlled performance over jumps, bumps, and rough terrain. Front and rear anti-roll bars reduce chassis roll through turns, keeping the truck flatter and more predictable at speed. The heavy-duty lower 4-link setup at both ends controls axle articulation, minimises flex, and ensures consistent ride height and traction — all working together for composed, confident handling.
Drivetrain: CVD Driveshafts & Machined Centre Gearbox
A precision single-speed centre transmission with a 0.5M machined gear set efficiently transfers power from the brushless motor to both axles with minimal drivetrain loss. Counter-rotating CVD steel centre driveshafts reduce torque twist and maintain stability under acceleration, keeping the Mini-King responsive and controlled on any terrain.
Heavy-Duty Axles with Three-Gear Differentials
The front and rear axles feature robust three-gear differentials housed in super-beefy axle casings that protect internal gears from shocks, hard landings, and aggressive driving. By evenly distributing power between wheels, the three-gear diffs improve traction through tight turns, rough terrain, and off-camber surfaces — letting you push harder without drivetrain stress.
On-Axle Steering with Metal-Geared Servo
The SD-02MGWR metal-geared micro servo mounts directly on the axle housing rather than the chassis, minimising link flex, shortening the steering path, and delivering immediate, consistent steering feel across rough terrain. Water-resistant and rated at 1.5kg-cm torque at 6V, it keeps steering precise even under heavy suspension movement or hard cornering.

Flux Brushless Motor & Waterproof ESC

Paired with the fully waterproof FLX16-3S30-WP Flux ESC, the system runs cool and consistent in all-weather conditions. The Mini-King comes equipped with the TF-706 — HPI Racing's latest ultra-lightweight 2.4GHz 6-channel pistol-grip radio. Fully featured and completely adjustable to suit your driving style, it also includes a thumb stick option for one-handed driving versatility.
