Pull starts cop a hard life, and a frayed cord, a cracked housing or a spring that no longer rewinds will leave you stranded with an engine that is otherwise perfectly healthy. Fitting a complete assembly is the quicker fix than rebuilding a tired one piece by piece, and it is a sensible thing to have on the shelf before race day rather than after.
