IBG 72102 1/72 Scale Cromwell Mk.IV Type C Hull (British Medium/Cruiser Tank) Plastic Model Kit
The Cromwell A27M was a British tank of the Second World War. The first prototypes were built as early as 1941, but serial production continued in the period 1943–1945. In total, about 4,100 copies of this tank were built. The Cromwell was powered by a Rolls-Royce Meteor V12 engine with 600 hp, and was armed with a single 75mm ROQF cannon and two 7.92mm Besa machine guns.
Constructed as the successor to the Crusader tank, the Cromwell entered service as a highly manoeuvrable and technically refined design. However, its armour and main armament were criticised as inferior to the 17-pounder cannon of the Sherman Firefly. Despite this, the Cromwell is recognised as one of the most successful British armoured designs of WWII, serving with British forces and the Polish 1st Armoured Division on the Western Front from 1944.
Paints Required
This kit uses rigid styrene plastic — paint with Tamiya Acrylic Mini (XF series) for brush painting. British WWII tanks were finished in SCC 15 Bronze Green (close to Olive Green) as the standard single-colour scheme from 1944 onwards.
Hull & Turret
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-58 Olive Green — primary body colour, closest match to British SCC 15 Bronze Green
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-62 Olive Drab — alternative shade for a slightly darker, more muted finish
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-57 Buff — dry-brush highlight for a dusty, sun-faded field finish
Running Gear, Tracks & Details
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-1 Flat Black — tracks, exhausts, and deep shadow areas
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-52 Flat Earth — mud and earth weathering on lower hull, tracks, and road wheels
Figures (if included)
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-58 Olive Green — British tank crew uniform base colour
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-15 Flat Flesh — skin tones for any crew figures
- Tamiya Acrylic Mini XF-1 Flat Black — boots, straps, and equipment details
Tip: Apply a thin wash of Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (Dark Brown) after the base coat dries to bring out the engraved panel lines, weld seams, and surface detail on the hull and turret.
