Quik-Cure 5-Minute Hobby Epoxy
Bob Smith Industries QUIK-CURE™ is an equal two-part hobby adhesive that forms high-strength bonds through a chemical reaction between resin and hardener. Its slightly flexible cured consistency helps it form lasting bonds in areas exposed to vibration or stress, with a 9oz pack for hobby and model-making projects.
Key Features
- 5-minute epoxy: Items bonded with QUIK-CURE™ can be handled after 15 minutes, with full strength reached in 1 hour. The product listing also specifies full cure in less than 15 minutes.
- Slightly flexible finish: Its reduced brittleness supports lasting bonds in areas subjected to high vibration or stress.
- Broad material compatibility: Works best on hard wood, glass and metal, and works well on balsa wood, soft wood, fibreglass, ceramics, hard plastics and white foam.
- Useful for hobby applications: Can be mixed with microballoons to form a quick-setting putty and can be coated with polyester resin without affecting the resin’s curing.
- Chemical and temperature performance: The cured epoxy is resistant to most chemicals and can cure in temperatures down to 40°F. Temperatures above 90°F shorten the working time from 5 minutes to less than 4 minutes.
- Surface preparation: Bonds best to clean, textured surfaces. Roughen smooth, non-porous surfaces with coarse sandpaper to improve adhesion.
- Cleanup: Acetone and isopropyl rubbing alcohol are listed as suitable solvents for cleaning uncured epoxy.
